Canadian passport renewal from India

Do we need to contact VFS for the renewal? The pp expired in July this year and the pp holder lives in India. Application can be printed from CIC site. Any links/info would be really helpful.

Applications are available from http://www.passportcanada.gc.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK - passport canada website. There is an option for Canadians living abroad (must not choose cdns living in the US). You need to fill out that application and provide supporting documents. You'll have to find out the nearest Canadian office that will accept passport applications. More likely, that would be the Cdn consulate in India.

Thanks.
It is pptc042 form for children less than 16 yrs of age, abroad. It needs the signature of a guarantor. Is it necessary to get the signature of the guarantor even if the child is holding a current Canadian passport?
