I am planning to visit NY for a day on my way to AC, need some suggestions as to:

- The main tourist spots of NY that can be covered in a day, along with some shopping.
-How much does the guided city tour cost and where can I get the best bargain?
-Budget motels in NY (or NJ) with access to public transit for easy commuting to downtown NY.
