Hi. My application for citizenship is in process and I am waiting to be called for the test. The problem is my PR card expires in another 5 months. Is it worth it renewing it when I may very well get my citizenship soon after the expiration date? I am not planning to leave the country in the near future. I would appreciate your advice. Thanks.

Thanks Dimple, that is what my googling suggested as well but I'm very wary of being wrong on this one for obvious reasons.
If one more person who's faced this, can confirm what Dimple said above, I would appreciate it.
Avani ....
Dimple is RIGHT.
Anyway .... why don't you renew your PR Card ......... so that you will have peace of mind. It's only $50 .
When you go for your citizenship exam , you will be asked for your PR and at the time of your oath, it will need to be surrendered. Technically, they should not question your expired PR, but better to be safe than sorry.
Also, if you do have to leave the country in an emergency, you will be stuck with an expired PR. As gurram said, its only $50. Think of it as one of the several insurance premiums that we pay over here and forget about it.
Thanks guys. You're probably right. It's just that I hate red tape and was hoping to avoid it. I should just suck it up and do it.
