Hi,
I am Ranjith here.
I have finished CGA and live in Calgary for the past 4 years. I have Passed M.com (B.com 3 years + M.com 2 years - all full time) from India and worked there for 4 years then moved to UAE & worked 9 years there & immigrated to Canada. Throughout my career I worked as Accountant. I am curious to know how can I go to the US/ get a job there & settle down (mainly due to weather & higher perks). My questions are :-
Should I study CPA from here and look for a job in US? or Can I get a job in the USA with CGA from Canada? Is CGA recognized there?
If so, CPA from which state should I study?
Which web sites provide job information for Canadian Accountants wanting to go to USA? or are there any recruiting agencies that focus on hiring Canadian Accountants?
Another option I am thinking about is stay back in Canada. Study for MBA from University of Calgary. Then which MBA is more beneficial for me- Part time 3 years or EMBA?
If so after completing MBA, can I get a good job in USA? Do US companies hire MBA's from University of Calgary? Which specialization should I choose, if I am considering long term chances in the USA. I know US is in very bad shape right now. I am thinking about 5 years from now.
Do lot of MBA's or Accountants go to US from Canada on TN? Where can I get all these information? I mean any websites or hiring agents?
I am really sorry to ask so many questions at once. But I am so curious?
Please share your knowledge on these?

Salaries for accountants in the US are no different than in Canada.

CGA is not recognized in the US.......you can study for the CPA in Canada and take the exams in the US. Colorado would be the most suitable state for you.
Since you are a CGA, I strongly suggest getting a job with a US based company in Calgary and then apply for a transfer.
Ask yourself the following:
Why would a US employer hire me ?
What's skills do you have that other Indian CAs/CPA who are living in the US don't ?
There are quite a few $80k/year accounting jobs in Alberta for CGAs/CMAs with more than 5 years experience, finding a similar job in the US will be a challenge.
