Dear Friends,
I need help and best advice. I got my Canadain PR in 1999 and worked for 2 years and for the last 2 years working in US. I did pay by tax for the last 4 years in Canada. My last visit was in JAN 2001. I'm planning to come back for good in 2 months time. Will i face any problem at the port of entry either by AIR AND ROAD? WHAT WILL THEY ASK ME AND WHAT SHOULD I ANS THEM . PLEASE I NEED THIS HELP FROM ANYONE WITH KNOWLEDGE.
THANKS,
ANAND
You shouldn't worry too much. They will most probably let you in as long as you demonstrate that you have spent 730 days in Canada over the past 5 years. Same criteria is used to determine your eligibility for PR card.

How does the Tax things work?
I have been in Canada for the last 28 months as well (work&live) and now plan to go back to US to (work&live) as well as I got my GC. At the same time I don't want to let go off my Canadian PR. So, if I come after 3 years from the last day of my stay in Canada, is it OK (as per the 2- 5 year rule) or when is the last day I should enter back to Canada in order to maintain the PR Card ?
Secondly, if I go to US and start working, should I file taxes here as well. The tax rates in US is less than Canada. What about NAFTA?
Thanks, ST2003
u need to have stayed for 2 yrs over 5 yrs from the date u last entered canada. u are safe.
