I am contemplating Laser vision correction. Can anyone who has undergone this procedure share their experiences (risks/suggestions etc). Any recommendations based on your own experience on where I can get this done in Mississauga?
Thanks,

I got Laser Vision correction done in December last year in Mumbai at the Shroff Eye Hospital. Dr. Anand Shroff is regarded as one of the best Laser surgeons in the world and the Laser that he uses is one of the latest, with only 5 other installed in other centers globally. The total cost was Rs.80K for both eyes and I have recovered well and have had no post-op issues. I have better than 6/6 vision in both eyes. In terms of pros and cons, I am sure that you can do the research and find out for yourself.
Friends of mine over here who have got it done at reputed centers in Toronto, such as Herzig Eye Institute have paid around $4000 for both eyes. Don't be misled by ads that promise $499/eye, because for an average person it would be nothing less than $2000 for both eyes at the cheapest centers in Canada.
freakoutguy,
I am planning to get my laser vision correction in India. I know that the procedure takes couple of hours and we can be back to routine less than 24hrs
But did you have to go back for further vision tests or did you have any done after you came back to canada?
Thanks
Shriya

I am also planning to do this surgery in India. But shankar netralaya site says we have to come for rechecking after 01 month & 3 month. How you managed that? Or is it not needed?

My trip to India was going to be a little over one month. Knowing this in advance, I had booked my initial appointment and surgery within the first 2-3 days after landing. The actual surgery was only 2-3 minutes. You have to come in after 24 hours, to make sure that things are going well and then there is another check-up around the one month mark, which I did a few days before returning to Canada. By then, your eyes should have recovered completely. The three month option is also there, in case there are fluctuations in vision acuity. Also, the option of a one-year check-up, is really upto you.
Its been over 7 months, since I had the LASIK done, I couldnt be happier.
Thank you very much freakoutguy. Much appreciated!
