I am Srinivasa Phani Krishna, i have done post-graduation in Marketing and currently working for a market research firm in India for 9 months.
I am likely to apply for Quebec PR, but before that i would want to know few things.

1) How are the job opportunities in Canada, in Marketing, Retail?
2)What could be the pay in such fields for people with 1-2 years experience?
3) What kinds of basic jobs could be available soon after i land in Canada, before i could get a job in my field, and what can be the pay in basic jobs, (in Hourly basis).
4) Can you help me find the points calculator, for calculating points to check if i am eligible for the PR, as one of the consultancy i visited said that i am eligible and i need 49 points, and i have 49 points.
I was checking Quebec immigration site, which also said i am eligible, but didn't mention any points.
5) And also please tell me about monthly expenses, for a sharing/single room, internet and transportation, i would be preferring cooking at room(vegetarian).

It would be better if you stay in India or try the Gulf.
You are treading on areas which benefit only IT people or low level labourers.

I will try to answer to best of my abilty as I am not in the same field as you but more or less the answers you are looking for will help you in some way :-


Q1) How are the job opportunities in Canada, in Marketing, Retail?

-- In Canada Jobs are always hard to come by (doesn't matter if you are in retail or in IT). You have to do your research yourself only. Please go to websites like workopolis/monster etc to see how many jobs are posted based on your profile.

2)What could be the pay in such fields for people with 1-2 years experience?

-- The minimum pay could be upto 50k/year (with 1-2 years exp). When i say upto 50k that means you can start as low as 30k/year as well.


3) What kinds of basic jobs could be available soon after i land in Canada, before i could get a job in my field, and what can be the pay in basic jobs, (in Hourly basis).

-- The minimum wage by Ontario for year 2011 is $10.25/hr. These are mostly labor jobs (picking/lifitng etc), you won't like Canada when you are doing basic jobs. But in the mean time look for jobs in your field.

-- The minimum expense you are looking at is at least $1500 per month based on what you have said above.

There is nothing easy in this world. Even if you decide to relocate from one state to another in India, you have to work hard.

For retail marketing jobs in Canada, I have few friends who are/have worked for Future Shop/Brick/Electronics/Car dealerships etc. Most of the jobs have a basic salary plus commision. The earnings varies - from 30 K upwards. One of them who is selling high end cars is making over 150k annually.

In general, I would say, one can make 30 to 50 K.

I could get a clear idea about the market and the pay as well.

I am looking at job sites in Canada, they are showing decent amount of openings in Retail, Marketing and sales.

And i am okay with basic jobs for 1-2 months before i could get a job in my field.

The minimum wage could be 30K is it ?

Do i get points if i have any family members in Canada, who are Canadian citizens ?
