Mayawati has proposed to split UP into four states, Paschim Pradesh, Awadh Pradesh, Purvanchal and Bundelkhand. May be it’s a political gimmick or a new social and political order. Would this guarantee effective administration?

The administration in a large state suffers from inefficiencies. Then what is the guarantee that it will become competent by creating a smaller state. Poor performance of a state is not necessarily linked to size. North-Eastern states are small in size. Going by Mayawati's view of smaller states for high growth, these North-Eastern states should have been more advanced than any other states in India. But the North-Eastern states are one of the most under developed states in India whether commercially, industrially.
