Hello fellow CD's
I have a question relating to the time spent out of Canada and its affect on citizenship application. My citizenship eligibility as shown by the online calculator in due in January 2012 after taking into account all vacation periods.
I had to go to India in 2008 for a period of 6 months to attend to some family matters.
Though I am eligible to apply in January 2012, does this fact that I have entered as vacation time for a period of 156 days likely to create any issues even though the residence calculator is showing eligibility in Jan 2012 after taking into account the above time out
Just wanted some opinion from senior CDs who have already applied for or become proud Canadian citizens before I send in my application
Thanks
You will be ok since you have already accounted for the time outside Canada.

This fact may be taken into account if your days are close to 1095 before you apply . Better apply in Feb 2012 so that a sufficient gap is there as you d wish to avoid a potential 2 year wait which comes with a residence questionnaire .

Thanks a lot Fido and Dimple2001 for your replies. Can you please give me some details on this RQ which you mentioned Fido since I am not quite aware of what this is and I did not find any mention of this on the CIC website
Try Google to get more info & experience .. RQ s are served on those citizenship applicant whose meeting residence obligations is either borderline or suspicious .

Thnals Fido for the details. I did look at some articles on RQ and it seems to be some sort of proof gathering requirement to prove the number of days in Canada
If you are asked for filling an RQ to what extent do we need to submit the proofs. Is it requires to show a bank statement/credit card statement/utility bill for each of the month in the 4 years that we have been here or fewer bills would do?
If any one has submitted an RQ can you please give an idea regarding what did you submit and for what period in total?
Thanks
You dont want ur application to go to RQ.. RQ takes over 2.5 years to process where as regular citizenship application requires 9 to 15 months ..
Best to do as Fido suggested .. make sure u have more than 1095 days residency and exceed that number by atleast 15 to 30 days...
