Hello all,
I plan to apply for citizenship shortly and have a few questions -
1. What is the likely timeline from start-to-end from Toronto?
2. I plan to travel to India for 2 months next Feb - Apr (2008) - is it likely that my citizenship process will be complete by then as well as allow myself time to get a Canadian passport and Indian visa?
3. If the process is not yet complete, what are the restrictions to travelling abroad during the process? Is vacation travel abroad even allowed during that time?
4. My Indian passport is also expiring in Feb 2008 - depending on where the citizenship process is, I might have to renew my Indian passport. How long does that take?
I'll appreciate if anyone can provide their experience, knowledge or thoughts.

1. There is no fixed timeline. Few months ago, it was like a year or so. At least for some, it is taking only 3-5 months these days.
2. May be.
3 There are no restrictions but it is best to inform CIC the dates you are travelling. If you do not appear for oath, you have send a written explanation why you did not.
4. Since these days everything is done by mail at Toronto office, it could be a month or more. Only urgent cases can apply in person.
