This year I was fortunate enough to get good support from my superior. I am mulling an idea to give a gift (most likely a wine bottle) as a Christmas present to the boss.
Is it a norm to give a present to your boss? Will it be looked as chaplusi?
Even if it does .. why bother ? You won't get many occassions like this ... Utilize it .

as Fido said, utilize the ocasion.
I think this is the positive about chrismas gift exchange, you can give to your boss, it will not look like a chaplusi and ofcourse she/he will remember it. and it helps for sure ! If you want to cover on the chaplusi factor and if you can afford it and if there not many in office next to you, give to all !
buss do not give that 11 $ wali wine, pack something good.

As per my experience at 6-7 different workplaces in Canada, I have observed the gifts normally flow up to down at workplace and not vice versa. I have been told that gifting your boss in North America is considered putting your boss in a difficult position of returning you the favor at work, and favoring you over your colleagues.
But there are always exceptions..
