Hi Venrasq,
How about collecting all our used clothing and sending them to orphanages across India ?.

May be TK & RAMAR 2005 can give us some needy places(authentic) in India where we could send them directly to the orphanages ?.

Thank you all for your suggestion. Its something we need to do on our own without any politics, other organisation.. start small and then see how it grow.. we plan to start with 5 kids initially, atleast we will be taking 5 kids off the streets.. thats the goal and motive.
At this point not interested in getting bigger.. just want to be able to handle what we take on.

I live in a capital city but a less developed city (not in TN though).
For the past 2 months, I have a sack full of children’s used cloth which I am trying to see some poor children / mother and give it to, but with no success. There are a very few beggers and they are not stationed in one place (it is a situation like : when you have a stone, you see no dog and when you see a dog, you have no stone)
I am planning to take all the cloths to TN next week and give it to the poor. I have seen some poor immigrants (from another state) in front of our church in TN.
Even when I was in b’lore last month, I could not even see one begger, same in Pune.
Have you guys, thought about helping Africa where the need is more esp. Sudan, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and the like?
Udavum Karangal in TN is good. The same as Banyan tree which takes care of destitutes.
There are a lot of orphanages in TN run by Christian missionaries, some of whom I give charity too.
While in Canada, I used to help World vision. They run programmes such as multiply your giving by 5 times where you give one part and the Govt. of Canada gives 4 parts. So it multiplies real well.
If you need any more specific information, please ask.
Peace

I found out that Udhavum Karangal has an office(incidentally this home in the prime location at T.Nagar was donated by an elderly couple after their children migrated to USA).
Thanks TK & Ramar 2005 for your kind information back.
TK & Ramar 2005 how do we leverage our association on CD for mutually beneficial financial gain ?.
Is there a business opportunity you find in your local area which could be sourced from North America ?.
I could coordinate this for you from here.
May be if there any potential students to CANADA, we could identify certain courses, colleges, universities and help them to achieve their educational objective.
I know a few immigration consultants in Mississagua who could work on the legal front. We could also do it at a much cheaper price.
We could utilize TK's knowledge on construction to identify projects fro reputed builders where TK could coordinate in the Indian side for a fee based on SQ.FT.
May be Ramar 2005 could help us source molded products for industrial/residential use from India.
Please think about this proposition.
If we cannot beat them let us join them

VM,
From my past experience, whenever you say money for a good cause, CD's will keep quiet. They only like money to come to them and not to go away from them. Even then they will be skeptical to handout money to someone who frequently bashes Canada.
So I am not interested. I can direct people but will not help CD's in a personal way.
Sorry !
Peace
