hello,
I am looking for some expert advise on my PR renewal situation. I am accompanying my spouse. My spouse is a Canadian citizen and working in USA. We live in Michigan for the past 6 years. We are planning to come back to Canada once my spouse's project is over. Now my PR is up for renewal in Decempber 2013. I am applying right now for renewal. I have landed in 2003 so my IMM landing paper shows that it expired in 2012.
Here are my questions:
1. When I apply my PR renewal under the category "accompanying Canadian Citizen", do I have to maintain a residency in Canada? Or I can continue live in USA and apply for my renewal. (Please note that I have my uncle in Canada which I am giving their address as my Canadian contact address)
2. I am applying on October 1 2013. I understand the whole process take 4-5 months. My PR expires on December 31 2013. My IMM landing paper shows it is expired in 2012. In this situation, what if I do not get my PR before December 31 2013 but I am still in USA? Can I come back to Canada in a private vehicle and I will get admitted in border with my IMM landing paper even though it is expired. OR do I have to be in Canada before my PR expiry date OR do I have to apply for Travel Document?
Thank you in advance

FH thank you for the reply. one more question:
1. Do I have to be physically in Canada from the date I apply and until I get the renewed PR card? Please remember I am accompanying Canadian Citizen. Do I have to be in Canada until I receive the card or I can physically come into Canada, apply and leave to USA and come back to collect the Card?
You already got it.
Here are some pointers, if you are in a hurry.
BLUE WATERS BRIDGE : http://www.ezbordercrossing.com/list-of-border-crossings/michigan/blue-water-bridge/
POSTAGE : 30g - 63 cents etc.,
http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/far/personal/findARate?execution=e1s1
SHOPPERS DRUG MART : FOR POSTAGE STAMPS. ..
http://www1.shoppersdrugmart.ca/en/store-locator/store-1032.aspx
If you want counter service, M-F you have to be there between 4 - 5 pm the latest.
Some Shoppers will provide with a book of stamps 10 stamps in it, over the cash counter. Use Three stamps for mailing, for safety. They also have PASSPORT PHOTO Service. Call and confirm. Courier service during working hours.
Cross the border as many times as you want upto 31st of December 2013, midnight. (Bring your wife if you want, carry passport for entry.) You are free to travel into Canada with your Passport and the PR Card. When you are in Canada get your pictures taken, for thr PR Card, validate them, buy your Canadian Dollar M.O. bring in your filled application, sign and send with all of the proofs, and if you prefer, and if you are there between 16:00 and the closing time, COURIER IT right there. They have that service too. (did you get an e-ticket?)
You don't have to be living in Canada, When it arrives, drive down after you receive it at the Canadian Address and pick it up, if it is before 31st Dec. 2013. Ater that, if you want to cross, just for comfort, bring your wife in or let her drive you into Canada.
FH.
