Dear Canadian Desi Members,
Greetings from Bangalore. First of all, I take this opportunity to congratulate the founders, promoters and members of Canadian Desi for conceptualising an excellent idea of promoting a website dedicated to the Canadian Indian. When I first chanced a visit to this website I poured through the various postings with the passion of a man in a desert without water for days. The information that I have gathered within a few days of becoming a member has been awesome. I have gone one step ahead and recommended this site to a few friends who have also applied for immigration to Canada. Hats off to all of you!!
Secondly, I had applied for immigration to Canada through an immigration agent in Bangalore in December 2001. Subsequently I got my File No in May 2002. I have also taken the IELTS exams and scored an overall Band score of 7.5 in my IELTS exams in FEB 2003. Marks scored in the individual modules are as follows:
LISTENING SKILLS: 7.5
READING SKILLS: 6.5
WRITING SKILLS: 8
SPEAKING SKILLS: 7.5
I understand from the Bangalore branch that a bandscore of 7 is desirable in every module, besides an overall bandscore of 7. So, I would be getting 14/16 overall marks for IELTS. My overall marks come to 74.
I have already applied for Visa for all of us, i.e. my spouse, my one-year-old daughter and myself. They have advised me that my case should come through after June 2004,as all cases filed up to end of 2001would be processed by June 2004. I would appreciate some advice on how soon my case is likely to come through.
With best wishes,
Ayaskant

Its difficult to predict the VISA date, coz CIC has its own rules of processing depending on various circumstances. But I can definitely say that 2001 files are under process now and you may hear something from CIC by the end of this year if all your required documents are in place.

A person is never more on trial than in a moment of excessive good fortune.
I am not aware of any particular directive to visa officer to process cases like yours after June 2001 [as per your consultant's claim].
However, you have reached the 3 year mark and things should move now otherwise you [or your able consultant] should make some noise.

One correction, This site is not limited to just indians , it is meant for all south asians.
Sorry about that. My intention was not to offend the sentiments of South Asians. My sincere apologies !!
Regards,
Ayaskant.
