Hi,

I applied for my parents visitor visa last year and i didn't get visa due to one of this reason as well, "Not enough fund in my account here in Canada" i showed at around 13 k cash in bank and around 50 k investments.

Now this time again we are going to apply for visitor visa for my parents, any one can you please tell me how much cash money i have to show in bank or what is my other options instead of cash.

your help regarding this matter will help me a lot.

Thanks in advance......

Did you apply it for first time and for multiple entry? Although many folks have different experiences and treat visitor visa as luck by chance, in my case it was rejected first time due to following reasons:
1) not enough funds in Canada (a lot of funds were in USD)
2) You are considered as potential immigrant due to the relatives that you have in canada. (something on similar lines) (my siblings live in India as well)
3) Not enough funds to support your travel (did provide property documents and sufficient funds in India for parents)

Next time I applied , had following things differenty
1) Applied after over 7 months.
2) Applied for single entry
3) Had Notice of assessments attached
4) Notarized letter from parents stating they will return within validity of visa.

for may folks they simply applied second time and did get multi year, multiple entry visa. It is was a painful experience first time.

Good luck!

I think the best steps one can take are :

1. Provide as much funds as possible in Canada .. I d say 15-20K

2. Provide as much funds in India as possible ... Id say CAD 10 K +

3. Provide property details ... might reflect as a tie .

4. Provide sibling details in India ... might reflect as a tie .

5. Provide a letter of invitation detailing everything recommended per CIC website .

6. Provide statutory declaration both by the parents and as an item in the letter above stating that the visitors would return back .

7. Provide documentary evidence for those occupied in something in India .

8. Provide NOA s from Canada .

9. Provide a good reason .

10. A letter from the MP here .

Id day it may be subject to the Visa Officer but we must submit all details from our side as much as possible .

Other CD s , please add anything that might have been missed above .

Hi RBO,
I went through the process recently. Here are some pointers.

1. Try to notarize your invitation letter. It cost me $ 50.00 + tax but there are cheaper options available.

2. I showed bank balance close to 15k and I attached statement of last few months. Its better to show more.

3. My mother in law is working in India, so I mentioned that in the invitation letter. If one of your parents is working, make sure to mention that.

4. As for the purpose for visit, I think its better to put it as visiting Canada. the majority of CD posts suggest not to include reasons like pregnancy.

5. Before they issued visa, they asked my MIL to undergo medical tests and get insurance.

6. I also attached a copy of my house ownership letter but I am not sure if it helped.

7. As a previous poster mentioned, put single entry choice in the application.

8. I included the following notes in our invitation letter (from my wife).

a. Please note that my mother do not have any intention to settle in Canada permanently and intend to leave Canada in February 2010.

b. We are confirming that we will support all expenses of my mother including stay, food, medical, insurance, travel, air ticket etc.

c. We have sufficient funds to support her expenses.

If you search in CD, someone has posted a sample invitation letter, please use it if you need. Let me know if you have questions.

Have you tried contacting agents in India?

It has been very well established that visa is nothing more than gamble. There is no set of rules . As in my case , I recently applied for parents visitor visa with following :
1. Self attested invitation letter .
2. Some bank statements ( not huge anyways )
3. Home doc's .
4. I didnt supplied any IT returns since my tax filing indicates less than $ 25000 income .
5. No job letter as self employed .

They were granted a 5 yrs visa
My parents are retired from business and service respectively so no present source of income .

Just try it again and we wish you best of luck .

Thanks all of you for reply and support.

I have a TFSA account for 20 k, but in my routing chequing account i didn't have more than 6 k. will it help this TFSA account summery or I have to show all money in bank only? Our investment statement (around 70 k) will help in this situation or not?

My father is retired and Mom is house wife, but my brother-in-law have a ADIDAS showroom in India and i am going to show as he is working as a Manager at showroom. will it help?

What i understood from all reply that My parents and myself have to do the notarized letter with red seal on it from their side also and myside invitation letter as well...am i correct? or i am missing something.

Last year when we applied my wife was not working, but last year she got a job in July so this time we already filed our IT to get option "C" on time for both us. so atleast we can attached to our application.

I think TFSA should be fine, after all its your savings.

Aren't you complicating matters?

Invitation letter is a formal letter yourself/your wife writes and attaches along with the application your parents submits in India. If you plan to notarize it, it will have to be done here in Canada. The notary is witnessing signatures on your invitation that they are valid as per the identification provided. I hope I am correct.
