Hello
Im travelling to India next month. Im wondering what are some good things that I can take from Canada to India which will be of good value for my parents?
Also while coming back what are the things should I do and buy?
I thought about dental cleaning and buying some utensils?
Please give me more suggestions
u can visit and register with the local food bank to get some unperishable goods like meat / vegetable cans, soups, juice powders etc.. Go to the $ 1 shop and get can openers to open the same in India.
The perfumes, chocolates and anything in $ 1 shop that you find interesting.
Next comes TV/ Laptop / Iphone etc..In Kijiji, you can get some unopened gifts for cheap price.
When coming back, you can bring pressure cookers, gaskets, dal , rice, lungi's, masala's, handicraft gifts / sweets gifts for the whites.
But seriously, you have not given us the budget nor the age of your parents / their professions nor your salary and your profession so that we can advise you better.

For parents: Even if they are healthy, buy some medical gadgets, i.e. Blood Pressure monitor, and/or multivitamins, dry fruits, and what is expansive in India for their day to day use. May be a good quality backpack for your Father's travelling needs, a quality jacket for Winters (depending upon the local weather conditions).
From India: From my experience, I don't buy much from India. Not saying the same for my wife though . I normally get the quality dress pants and shirts tailored to my size, as well as good fit Kurtas for special occasions, such as Diwali. In addition, two or three pair of Eye Glasses. Other than that, I never needed to carry anything from India - everything is available here nowadays. Of-course, your call as everyone's needs are different. I agree with you on the Dental cleaning though. Utensils are of a better quality here, albeit a bit expansive.
Febpreet,
Just for your information, all that you mentioned to take to parents from Canada, is available in cheaper prices than Canada (excepting jacket for winters and Multivitamins). So taking those may not impress them.b
I agree with what you have said to bring from India.
Recently we were gifted some items from London (food items). Same was available in India for much cheaper prices. For example, we got some breakfast bars from Marks and spencers marked as 1.99 pounds which is Rs 60 in Pothy's superstore in my town. we were also gifted Lays chips from London, while the same is available in corner stores in India

Are you there?
Why not?
I used to take that when I was in Canada (though not from Food bank). Veinna sausages, corn soup, canned beef was a hit with my parents. It is still available in India but fixed income people (when my dad was alive)will not buy it unless it is given free.
The airline offers 20 kg of free luggage. if you donot have 20 kg to take, you can even take bricks...
