Hi,

My in-laws applied for a multiple entry visa to visit Canada. They were asked to do their medicals.

Instead of getting a multiple entry visa, they were given a single entry visa with a notation that one / both (not specified) have a medical condition that needs constant monitoring and that they will have to redo the medical if they want to extend the visa.

Their physicals for the year were done 2 months back and all the tests were normal (including ECG etc that are required for the visitors visa). So, the CIC response is even more surprising.

The letter is not specific about the condition / who has the problem. Is there a way to find out more details about why the multiple entry was rejected ? The doctor who did the medical said that he cannot divulge the results.

Thanks,
Ash

LD is right.
It is entirely up to the consulate what kind of visa they will issue.
You have no appeal option available - going to local MP, etc. won't help since they have been given at least 1 entry visa.

Is the fee for the multiple entry more?
If so, they have "eaten" your fees as well i.e. they won't refund you the fee difference between single entry and multiple entry.

Just forget it and be thankful that your family members have received at least single entry visa.

Be happy and prepare for their arrival.

First Consulate/Embassy will issue a Single Entry Visa if they are returned back successfully without staying back and if they apply again for a visa then Embassy will issue a multiple entry visa.

They have seen number of applicants especially if the applicants are from Gujarat/Punjab then Embassy will scrutinize twice to issue a multiple entry visa at a first time
