A diamond merchant in India's Gujarat state has given his employees cars, jewellery and homes worth $8m (£5m) as a reward for meeting targets.
Savji Dholakia, who runs a diamond export company in Surat, gave away 491 cars, 525 pieces of diamond jewellery and 200 apartments to mark Diwali.
More than 1,200 of his 7,500 employees worldwide benefited from his largesse.

are you getting any kind of bonus in Christams time?
my employer is giving us $100 / year -
Cheers....
It is a fine gesture.
This merchat has a 6000 crore business (more than $1 billion) and he pays most of the employees 7000-8000 rupees a month. No wonder he has enough spare cash lying around.
My belief is you need to make enough money in salaries so that you do not have to depend on your employer's once in a blue moon generousity to live a decent life (obviously some of the labourers were not able to afford a car/apartment based on their regular salaries).
Thats why there is this mai baap culture in Indian which i dont like. so what this guy did is better than other but a much better thing to do is give all of them permanant salary hike to like 25K a month. This way they can all afford a good quality of life.
On the other hand infosys also announced 100% bonus to their employees which is awesome news. Infosys employees are well paid and the bonus is not going to dramatically change the standard of living for the employees working there.
I do not even get then $100 bonus here. Just a free lunch. :-(

My employer is already paying me a salary which is much beyond my expectations.
So I am going to return my christmas bonus back, in case I get it.
