SO another hassle for you , every 5 yrs if you have a kid ! OCI miscellaneous services are just as tedious 2-3 months as getting a NEW OCI all over again !

This isn't true. You only need to change it once at the time of new passport after 20.

For all other times, your child can travel will just OCI card and current passport.

I said upto 20 , I didn't say AFTER 20 . The kid is 3 , so till 20 he will have to do that.

Till the age of 20 means upto the age of 20 , NOT after 20.

1. Upto the age of 20 you have to change it every 5 yrs , when your Canadian PP changes after every 5 yrs for kids.

2. age 20 - 50 you DON'T have to change.

3. After age 50 , you ONLY have to change ONCE

that means every child under 20 yrs. age has to go through new OCI sticker every time once renew new Canadian passport...correct me if I am wrong?

You may be lucky...but as per rules, you're supposed to get the OCI re-issued for minors. You could be refused entry into the country.

1.Yes. Upto age 20 you have to do that ..everytime the CDN PP changes.

2.20-50 , you don't have to do that . You can just carry your old CDN PP with the OCI sticker on it , the new CDN without the OCI sticker & the OCI card.

3.After age 50 , you have to do it only ONCE , when your Canadian PP changes. Not everytime, just Once.

Sometimes if you are lucky , they let the kids go in 1. , but do you want to take a chance ?

I have a peculiar case and wonder if anyone can help.

My whole family became Canadian citizens in 2004. We got our passports cancelled after getting the citizenship/Canadian PP in 2004 soon.

For my wife and children I got PIOs (I don't remember why), but for myself I got OCI - and I was below 50 at that time.

Between 2010 and 2013, I went to Consulate as well as BLS three times to renew my OCI (due to new passport as well as turning 50) after doing the needful for renewal thru web and getting a number. Each time they said that I need a Surrender Certificate - even though the form for OCI clearly said that people who got their Canadian citizenship before 2009 do not need a surrender certificate (which is logical since there was no surrender certificate in 2004 when I surrendered my Indian citizenship). The problem they found with my passport was that it had a stamp of Cancelled - but not the stamp of Cancelled since the holder voluntarily acquired Canadian citizenship. (Funny - the three passports of my 3 family members all have the long cancelled stamped but not my passport!)

So after trying it twice without success, I finally decided to apply for surrender certificate - thought it would be $25 but atleast get it done with the silly practices of Indian authorities. But no, now they ask for a penalty - since I did not get the surrender certificate when I did acquire my Canadian citizenship.......(WTF!!!???)

So now what am I supposed to do???

Rules may not have been strictly enforced. In my own case my kids have third PP since we got OCI . Never had issues travelling to India without OCI sticker endorsement on new PP . Kids even traveled on their own .

I have posted this before and I am sure all are aware of this recent change .

Wef 29th Jan 2015 , OCI s would not be asked to produce their Passport containing the U Visa. The OCI card would be sufficient .

This does away with the need for getting the U sticker affixed every time the foreign passport is renewed ..

--------------------------------
Note: Vide circular No. 26011/06/2015-OCI dated 29th January, 2015 of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, all immigration authorities in India will not insist on production of the foreign passport containing the 'U' Visa Sticker in the case of OCI Cardholders while they enter / exit India and the immigration clearance will be granted based on production of the 'OCI CARD ONLY'.
