SO another hassle for you , every 5 yrs if you have a kid ! OCI miscellaneous services are just as tedious 2-3 months as getting a NEW OCI all over again !

This isn't true. You only need to change it once at the time of new passport after 20.

For all other times, your child can travel will just OCI card and current passport.

I said upto 20 , I didn't say AFTER 20 . The kid is 3 , so till 20 he will have to do that.

Till the age of 20 means upto the age of 20 , NOT after 20.

1. Upto the age of 20 you have to change it every 5 yrs , when your Canadian PP changes after every 5 yrs for kids.

2. age 20 - 50 you DON'T have to change.

3. After age 50 , you ONLY have to change ONCE

Isn't it better that the confusion of pio & oci is removed now.
Only OCI just makes life a lot easier. It also makes proper checking on the list of persons entering India

Can you spot the difference?
Also my statement above is based on real experience of minor travelling recently in March 2015.

What difference ?

I said upto the age of 20 , everytime the Child's Canadian PP is changed , you also have to get the OCI reiisued as their face changes. This is ON the embassy website, and you said that's NOT true, when its entirely true.

20-50 , you DON'T have to do that. You can just carry BOTH the NEW & OLD Canadian PP with you.

Just because you were able to recently travel doesn't mean that the rules have changed. The Indian official at the airport was incompetent & didn't follow the rule & you were extremely lucky to get through. Someone else might NOT be so lucky.

Again what's below is ONLY till the age of 20 , NOT after that.

This is from the Embassy website :

" Although the OCI Card is a lifelong card, the Card and the Life Long Visa sticker that comes with it must be replaced EACH time a NEW passport is issued:

• For an applicant who is 20 years of age or younger ,OCI documents must be re-issued after the issuance of a new passport in view of biological changes in face of the applicant. "

Lot of people are NOT eligible for OCI , but are eligible for PIO . The conditions for OCI were way more tough than those for PIO.

So some who were NOT eligible for OCI went for a PIO instead. And those who are not even eligible for PIO just go for a regular visitor's/tourist/business/work/student visa for India.
