I came to Canada about 4 months ago and only doing Temporary Jobs one after another. Some body should tell me how to get one credit card which is very important here. I applied for one in early March2004 and that time it was rejected. How to get credit Card early.

Kalia ji,

You have been in Canada for 4 months now but your location still shows India. You have also not mentioned where in Canada are you so that we can guide you to an institute which might help you in getting a card. If you do not have a full time job, it is difficult to get an unsecured card, however, you can get a secured credit card. This query has been answered a number of times in this forum and you can get some help from these links.

Still if you have any questions, you can email me.

1. Do not apply for too many credit cards too soon. It will reflect badly on your credit history.

2. You can start building your credit history if you have about $1000-1200 to spare by putting that in secured credit card. For more information put "secured credit card" in "Search in Charcha." You will find many links.

I think Pramodji and I replied at the same time.

I use quite a few credit cards, including citibank, StanChart Gold, etc. My question is that by referring to this (India) credit history, will the same bank issue another credit card over there without much fuss?
All the cards that I use are international cards!

Thanks

PS: How do I attach a pic. of mine under my name? Let me know.

Yes, there are pretty good chances that the Citi Bank would consider this credit history of yours and would give you a card here also. Why not ask your card issuer (Citi Bank) in Mumbai about it and see what they say. May be they would guide you better or help you out by writing a credit reference letter etc., which the Citi Bank here may consider. Otherwise, you have another options as already been discussed in this forum.

For attaching your picture, you have to update your profie and add a 'custom' avatar in my settings.

Here are the Avatar Rules

Your avatar can be maximum of 5000 bytes.
Only GIF & JPEG are allowed.
Your avatar can maximum dimensions of 75 x 75

So, if your picuture is jpeg and is more than require size and dimension, you can edit it by using photoshop etc. and then can load as a 'custom' avatar.

Hope it helps.
