This really surprises me because only about 3 weeks ago, both my parents(dad 80 and mom 75) successfully got their visa okayed in no time at all. The visa officer asked them very few questions. I wonder if has something to do with the applicants being present for the interview with the application compared to the application being presented by a travel agent or maybe it is related in someway to how long the sponsor has been in Canada before attempting to sponsor someone. In my case I have been here since 1998 and was one of the lucky ones to have got a good job within 3 months of landing and have been in regular amployment since with the same company. Does the size or status of company that the sponsors works for make a difference? I think we should try and compare the differences between those sponsors who have been able to successfully sponsor someone and those who have been denied sponsorship.

I guess in your case they were very senior. But for those below 60 and still working it is a issue . I know one more person whose MIL's visa was rejected. She was also coming for her daughters delivery.

I agree Kap, recently there are many cases of rejection. As most of the immigrants (from India) came during 2000-2001 and have been here for 3-4 years, many of them are trying to call their parents on Visitor Visa now. Now as Canadian Embassy at New Delhi getting more and more such files, they are rejecting some on random bases. This is my analysis, I could be wrong.
Yes, I agree with Garvo and Daks,
But whats the problem of the Canadian Government if they issue visitor visa to immigrants parents?
They are old age and not going to work illegally. Sponsorer has sufficient income to accomadate them. then Whats burden on Canadian Government?
If they issue visitor visa then
-Air Canada (may be survive from bankrupcy) or Pearson Air port got income from them
-Sponsorer spend more expenses for their parants and more money rotate in market. and Government also got GST +HST from money spend for their parents.
-They visit tourist places and have nice income from such visitors
-They have their medical insurance (Insurance company also got some business)
What is the risk factor for Government if they issue visa for parents, I really cant understand their logic behind rejection.
Sometime i realise that corruption / influence is require in life.

You guys have got it all wrong ..
In US and Canada when applying for a visitor visa , you should never say " help with delivery of kid " , taking care of kid" as these are professions for the nurses, babysitters etc. 99% chances are they will be refused a visa. Just say meeting son / daughter or travelling to see canada. ANd yes ! They will have to produce strong "links" to prove that they will not be intending immigrants.
By saying helping with support to of a child you are involuntarily saying , they will be illegally working here and taking over a babysitters job.
It is not that they will be but that is not what is india's image by having "illegal immigrants" and refugees and also h1b's in USA willing to sit "free" on bench but not going back to India. These guys here have an impression that people are trying to flee from india and if you stand in fron of the cdn and the US embassy in the morning in Delhi , IT seems rightly so .
Hope this helps
