There was an article in the newpaper "The Times of India" saying that this is required. hence I checked up with my Income tax consultant who checked up & confirmed that this is required.

It is better to do it since there is no charge for this. Who knows what immigration authorities at Mumbai airport would do if you did not have it?

Why I ask is because it says the form is for claiming a tax refund. How would that help when we leave the country?

I was just going through the IT site for the Form 30 C - havent been able to find it so far - theres a form however for IT clearance before leaving country Form 33 i think.
Reachme- you had any luck so far ?
Rajand - would you be having any idea from where we could get hold of the form.

My tax consultant had referred to a book where all forms are given. Based on that i had taken a photocopy, got it typed on the computer & submitted to IT dept. & got it acknowledged.

Thanks. Your consultant was good indeed, most of the people whom i asked werent even aware of the need to do so at all.
The form isnt there on the IT website !
Guess they dont want people to get so used to such luxury that forms which help people (without earning the IT dept some money in the process !) be available on the net.
