If anyone, who is on H-1B visa and have any question about going to canada from US and then coming back, feel free to contact me. I will be more than willing to help.
I hope to see you all in the next canadian desi gathering/picnic
Also have a question, how are the job prospects for LAN/WAN administrator. I have a CCNA and CCNP certification and am planning to take MCSE as well?
Please tell us , how did you go, and came back ..I'm in same boat.

This forum is simply great! Thanks Manidayal for the info! I'm on the same boat too! I'm on H1B, flying to TO from NJ on Sep 14th. Plan to spend a week there. I initially got some leads on job hunts, but later found that those jobs were filled out! Anyway, I will just complete the formalities, do some sight-seeing - NFLs, TO, and maybe Montreal or Ottawa, and return to NJ.
Seriously planning to move to Canada in October, or early next year the latest.
Can you narrate your experience at the Canadian immigration, as well as at the US immigration on return?
So, did you land at Toronto as well? Did you drive or fly?
Thanks.
Hi Gary and jughead,
Sorry for a late reply. i flew from Baltimore to Buffalo and took a rental car at the airport. I completed my canadian immigration formalities at Niagara border. It only took me about 30 minutes to complete the whole process.
It was a pleasant experience , no hassle at all. Immigration officer asked me if i am taking everything at this time and moving residence. I told her "no" and will be going back to US and shift in next 6 monts or so.
Also asked if i will be moving my car from US to Canada, which i will be. Do take the "VIN" number of your car, case you will be doing the same. I did not had my VIN number handy and had to call my insurance agent to get it at that time.
Also i don't have any relative in canada so i gave my friends address ( who has already recieved my SIN and PR cards, which i will be picking up from him during my next visit to toronto , in oct 04) .
Spent the weekend in toronto and drove back to Buffalo. US immigration officer did not ask me anything , just smiled and said so you have immigrated to canada. i said No not right now but eventually will be.
Hope this helps you all...let me know if you have any more questions
