Dear Massoodji,
Finally received landing papers after about 9 months after medicals!!(I had sent a few posts to you earlier about this....)
Now we are all set to land, assess the place and then make that BIG decision of when /where to move. After weighing a no. of pros and cons we roughly decided to give Vancouver a shot....due to conducive weather and less crowdedness....etc.
We are a couple in early 30s and intend to acquire enhancement in education and at the same time be able to do some temp/part time work for survival (we have 2 children!). My husband is an engineer and is in the marine electronics industry from abt 10 yrs......and we heard that Vancover being a busy port should give him some part time /temp job in his industry. But often people are very discouraging when we talk abt Vancover and we've heard comments like "It is like a small town, port is not busy at all, most businesses are family owned etc."
Sorry that I am sending this query amidst your busy schedule to you but I just need a 1 or 2 line fair opinion from you
But often people are very discouraging when we talk abt Vancover
- OPINIONS VARY AND ARE SUBJECT TO INDIVIDUAL TASTE AND PREFERENCES
... and we've heard comments like "It is like a small town
- IF YOU LIVE IN NEW YORK OR LONDON, YOU'LL NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE IN SIZE. SIZE OF THE CITY AND QUALITY OF LIFE HAVE NOTHIN TO DO WITH EACH OTHER. I LIVED IN LONDON FOR 10 YEARS AND NOW IN VANCOUVER. I LOVE IT.
... port is not busy at all,
- THOSE PEOPLE MUST BE EITHER JOKING OR HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
... most businesses are family owned etc."
- I REALLY FIND THIS ASTOUNDING AND NOT WORTH SPENDING MY TIME COMMENTING ON SUCH MEDIOCRE ASSESSMENTS

Thank you very much Massoodji for sparing a few minutes on my silly query. We were as astounded as you are when we heard these comments from 1-2 people who visited and lived there for abt a month. Anyways as u said opinions vary....but as u know apprehension is always there.
We are now going to believe only our eyes n ears (n of course opinions from authentic sources like u) and are landing in Vancouver beginning of Nov. Hope to meet you there
Do I read right when I feel that u r in Bahrain Ivan?? Incidentally I also know a ldy whose husband is also working in the Marine Industry and is going to Vancouver after attaining a job there in his landing visit .
Manasvi .
Hi Manasvi
Nope we live in Dubai and co-incidentally my husband is in the marine industry too....but we've not yet landed so no job confirmed as yet.....
Cheers
Suzee
