Yes we have everything that you have mentioned - some do some and others do the others - but overall, we have everything that you have mentioned. In that manner, Canada is like any other country in the world - there is nothing here which is out of this world!

No I don't have nap in the afternoon!
That's one thing I miss from back home where I used to have my 1-hour noon siesta everyday!

I am still continuing nap atleast in the weekend
Weekdays I don't have the luxury to take nap but atleast have my lunch at my home ... because my home is close to office and I enjoy flexi lunch hour ...courtesy my office

Timings : I can speak for my field, in engineering and construction, work starts here pretty early, by 7.30 am most offices are up and running on full swing. Financial, banking sectors start a little late. Quititng time for work is also pretty early, most offices are done by 3.30-4pm max 5pm under normal circumstances.
Social life: toronto offers as much social life as you can take and there is always plenty of spare time to participate in other things after work, gym , arts and you even gets time write so much on CD..... but then its me who is saying this, many others would say there is no time at all in the life here.
I guess the short almost 4.5 day workweek has plenty to do with giving everyone the time to spend on other things outside work... fridays are pretty relaxed , depending on the office people start walking off from work after lunch on Friday. When i was in india i always craved for 2 day weekends, here the 2.5 days is very satisfying.

I guess its little different in the construction industry .....we start at 7.30 to 5 every day ...but then there is np hard and fast rule ......so it is about 36 -38 hrs in the 4 days ..so anything over 4 hrs on fridays is extra ...tho we dont get paid for the extra hrs ...so in slow seasons we generally take off after lunch....i thought it was the norm in canada ...maybe not.
