Hi All,
Since thiis form/charcha and canadiandesi itself is an electronic medium and a computerised one too, it would be better to further differntiate/segregate ASIAN communities if not by their religion at least by their countries.
I find that most of the active members using this site are only from India.
Ofcourse this site has been promoted by an Indian.
It is not a matter of "asian" unity or something, but there comes a point when you specifically would like to hear, kknow the views of a paerson from a particular region/country!
For example, the issue of world trade centre happenings were'sensitive' for many Indians as thei future was in jeopardy (stricter regluations)compared to those from islamic countries who just wanted to punish the criminals!
Also for the exclusive 'vegetarian' Hindus from India, it becomes a bit demanding and awkward asking questions which for others does not matter!(like questions on food and Indian,not Pakistani or Bangladeshirestaurants in Canada,etc)
Hence please use this medium for differnetiating the person by the country and also by religion if possible!(for greater transparency and effective communication)

The very essence of CD would be lost by the differentiation. Specific info is readily available or provided by those forum members who are interested or have knowledge about a particular posting so I don't see any need for going into the region or religion of a person.

There is no need to go into such details. Sure If you want to find out about a person of interest you can ask, even publicly. I dont have any problem with that. but that would be an isolated case.

This is a good topic and I am sure both sides will come out.

Incidentally, In toronto they are thinking of gathering race (ethnic background) based stats for Kids so that they can concentrate on those groups lagging behind. Of course some think its not a good idea.

You are talking of particular instances but for general discussion religion does not matter. Just go through some new and old posts and post link here where religion of the person who posted would have mattered.

That thread is more concerned about being vegetarian. Even if you know the religion of the person who posted, in what way can it help you?
