Good luck for your test maxim, Can you share your timeline Please
I was asking you but if you both can share your timelines it is good
Here is my timeline of my citizenship process!!!
We received your application for grant of Canadian citizenship (adult) on March 30, 2004.
We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application, and a study book called A Look at Canada on March 30, 2004.
We started processing your application on June 08, 2004.
Your file was transferred on November 18, 2004 to the Woodbridge office for the citizenship testing and taking of the citizenship oath. The Woodbridge office will contact you to write the Citizenship test.
Got letter on 3rd Dec that my citizenship test is on 17th december.
Hope this will be very helpful.
Eligibility for Citizenship Applications
I have been working in US for 2 years on H1
I just got my passport stamped two months back for PR and the expiry date on my VISA is June 2005 but i will planning to travel to canada in Feb 2005 to start accumulating my residencyt days.
The Question i had is that after immediately landing in Canada, can i get started on my residency like
1. Renting a house, opening a bank account, being employed by a Canadian firm at minimum wages.
while still continue to work in US for the first one year.
I can really travel to Canada once a month because i stay in Detroit very close to Windsor and even Toronto. The thing is i just dont want to loose the 1 year period and want to accumulate the residency.
What is the proof of residency required for Applying for a Canadian Citizenship 3 years down the line ?
Any pointers would be of great help and i can really go in a planned way and not just enter Canada for the sake of it.
Rgds.

Hi Valleyguy,
Thanks for your question. According to CIC you've to be in Canada for 2 years out of 5 years period. My advice is live and work in canada for 2+ years to maintain your residency. To apply for your pasport you should have lived in Canada for 3+ years and the 4th year you can apply for your citizenship. I hope all Canadiandesi's agree with me.
Thanks,
A16
Also Govt is trying to make new Citizenship legislation which will clearly require you to be physically present in Canada three year out of six. Just residency will not work
