I have a question . I was filling my wife's citizenship form and was wondering how do I calculate days for absences
1) What is the same day trip to US . Does it count to 0 or 1 days out and does it have to be mentioned in the absences column.
2) If My wife left on 10th evening to US and came back to canada with me back on 11th afternoon. Is it 0 or 1 day out . Does this have to be mentioned on absences.
Thanks and have a great day

If the overnight stay was in US then it is 1 day absence and you should count the same as such.

As per my understanding, I thought any day that you are in Canada is considered as being in Canada so If I left on 10 and came back on 11th , it should be still counted as zero days outside .
Again , I could be wrong

Pramodji,
Are you positive about this? I would have thought otherwise. In my opinion, one is in Canada on both the days, therefore there should be no absence. But then, sometimes rules are not based on logic.
Going by that rule, if I left Canada say at 11pm to drop my friend in Buffalo and returned at 1 am next day, it would be counted as absence from Canada, isn't it?

I go to meetings on Monday morning to my client in WA state so sometimes I leave on sunday evenings and stay in the hotel overnight in WA state to be there at 8 am on Monday mornings and then I am back by Monday evenings .
If I count this as 1 day absence , I will have to look for a lot of delay in applying when I am eligible to apply ..
Any thoughts ??
