DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS ON CROSS-CANADA PUBLIC HEARINGS
The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration will meet to conduct consultations on “A New Citizenship Act”, “Recognition of the International Experience and Credentials of Immigrants” and “Family Reunification Issues”.
The Committee intends to hold public hearings in St. John’s, Halifax, Fredericton and Charlottetown the week of March 7, 2005. Quebec City and Montréal the week of March 21, 2005 and also Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo the weeks of April 3rd and April 10th, 2005.
Individuals and organizations that wish to be considered to make an oral presentation at each location should contact the Committee Clerk by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 22, 2005. Those who do not wish to make an oral presentation but who are interested in commenting on the issues may send their submission to the Clerk at the address below by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 15, 2005.
Witnesses who are selected to make an oral submission to the Committee will have seven minutes for their presentation and if possible, witnesses should submit their presentation to the Clerk in writing at least seven working days before their appearance.
