Hi,
My friend who has already migrated to Canada about 17 months ago feels that once he aquires Canadian citizenship, he can return to India and stay here indefinitely without losing his Candadan citizenship. Is this correct?
Or like in the case of PR status, would he be required to stay in Canada for a stipulated time to retain his citizenship?
Are there any pre-conditions attached for one to maintain the citizenship status?

No, you cannot "lose" it like that.
You would however need a visa for India (unless you go for dual or PIO card).

I have a similar concern.
If a person completes 3 years at one stretch i.e not leaving Canada at all for 3 years, to satisfy basic criteria of citizenship but without applying for citizenship leaves Canada for couple of years. Now, on return of this person to canada after say 3 - 4 years, will (s)he qualify for citizenship or they will count stay for that person in Canada as 3 years in 6 years.

So they will not consider 3 years in first 4 years.
If the person applies for the citizenship to create proof at govt. records of being a qualified applicant for citizenship. Then leaves Canada, being absent from the test and oath. Do they keep application active or only one call is given for the test.
