Service Pack 4 on Win2000 isn't helping..?

I am not able to download windows XP service pack 2 (for latest windows XP security updates)in my PC when i click donwload it reaches half way and then when it tries to extract files its givin me a message your product key is not valid. Can someone guide me how to fix this problem or is there any other way to download security updates for windows XP. I also tried other way by ordering windows security upadate CD from Microsoft but still doesnt work.
Appreciate your inputs

r u using a pirated copy of windows xp? If you got this WIndows XP when you bought your PC.. you can send the info to Microsoft and get a free copy of Windows XP.. I installed SP2.. but never got that error..

Also.. you should get the IE 6 Service Pack 1.. thats the latest for Windows 2000.

Thanks for your advice i did that i think it is working but dont know how long will it stay, where should i get the above one from, could the problem of IE opening up after 10 sec after the double click on icon be resolved thru this pack or it could be something else.

Delay in opening of IE could be because of a spyware which is slowing down the PC or trying to load along with IE.

1. download Microsoft AntiSpyware program and install it.. This might resolve some of the issues.

2. Set the home page in IE to "Blank"..
3. Get Firefox for day to day browsing.. YOu can still keep IE to get updates from Microsoft.

Get latest IE for WIndows 2000 from

hey man after all those installations my system crashed ,have got all the stuff again after such a big pain....,reason i got was it had not installed properly thatis why it crashed wont take any more pangas in between as i was using my compu as it was installing the stuff.
