I recently applied for immigration to canada under the skiiled worker category. I have two daughters, 6 and 2 years old. The older child has mild autism.
I am expecting my IA in a month and was looking for information on Medical exam.

I am getting confilcting info, at some places they say that the application will be rejected. Some places i have seen members ask questions about autism support etc, meaning that they got their PR despite an autistic child. I had hired a consultant to apply and he had assured me that there would be no problem with Autism etc. Now he has disappeared and some other company has taken over my case and they deny any knowledge of any such assurance.

I am in the US and my green card process is not going anywhere and H1 is expiring next year. There were many reasons to leave india to come to the US but help and support for my daughter was one of the primary ones. I really want to stay in the west somewhere so that my older daughter can continue to get some help. If my application to canada is rejected, i will be very disappointed.

Any help, info and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi smishra

I am so sorry to hear that you are in this situation. Usually, Canadian authorities are very sensitive and reasonable when it comes to "special situations". I have seen scores of cases where exceptions have been made and priority has been given to situations similar to what you're in.

My advice would be, don't give up hope. It's good to stay realistic, but keep your spirits up. Did you include a detailed letter explaining your specific situation as part of your papers that you submitted? If not, it may not be a bad idea. These cases are handled by human beings and some things just cannot be explained in forms and questionnaires. In my experience, explaining the situation in an accompanying letter has only helped unique cases.

Best of luck and please keep us posted about your situation.
