Hello Mr. Masood,

I am a Permanent resident of Canada. I had a child born outside Canada, hence when I applied temporary resident permit (TRP) for the child and have moved now permanently to canada this week. The TRP is valid only 30-Jun-06.

At Airport, the immigration officer told me that I only have to apply for the child PR visa and this will formailse his stay here, without need to extend his TRP visa.

Today, I called CIC call centre and explained my case. I called up twice and I got different information from both agents;

Agent 1 - Asked me to apply for

1 - Application to Extend or Restore a Visitor's Stay : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/visitor.html
2 - Application for Permanent Residence in Canada — Humanitarian and Compas : http://www.cic.gc.ca\english\applications\handc.html

Agent 2 - Asked me to do the below;

Internet Links/Addresses
1 - Immigration Applications - Processed Outside of Canada : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/times-int/index.html
2 - Application to Extend or Restore a Visitor's Stay : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/visitor.html
3 - Family Class Immigration : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/sponsor/index.html

Please advice what exactly needs to be done.

Regards
Chetan

Option 2 - yahi hey right choice baby ;)

We are in the exact same situation and although you application is initially sent to the Mississauga case prcessing center, it is subsequently forwarded to the Buffalo office.

Hope this helps

DT

PS> Fee is $150 and make sure u do the baby's medicals and attach your employment docs.

Not for your new born daughter. Just attach an explanation that you are a new immigrant and hence can't provide any tax or employment documents. It may be a good idea to attach proof of funds and medical insurance (if any) for the baby.
