I posted this message in Massood's area a long time ago and I never heard from anybody. I know Massood is out of country or something like that. I would appreciate if somebody else could clarify on this matter.
"Do not request a police certificate from Hong Kong, the United States or Canada until you are instructed to do so by a visa office."
The above paragraph comes from Consulate General Buffalo website (http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/can-am/menu-en.asp?act=v&mid=5&cat=68&did=398)
Does that mean I do not need to get a police certificate if I am applying for a Canadian PR?
I also saw somewhere in one lawyer's website that citizens of Nepal do not need police certificate FROM Nepal. Is that true?
Thank you for your time.
I was really counting on somebody to answer my query. It seems like nobody cares. I have been waiting to find what exactly I am supposed to do before I mail my application. I know many of you have just applied and many of you are in process applying for Canadian PR and some of you may have even contacted lawyers. Why is it so hard to just write me a sentence and say you need or don’t need a police clearance from the US? I understand if you do not know the second question about Nepal and police clearance from there.
I tried to call Buffalo Office and they do not have e-mail and phone number there.
Thanks
For Canadian PR from India, if one has stayed out of India for more than six months in a foreign country, they need police clearance. Once everything is through i.e. all your docs are submitted, then CIC issues you a notice to submit police clearance certificates from the different countries (where you lived for more than six months). In my case, this rule got applied for my wife also, although she wasnt married to me when I was moving around the world. So I had to get PCC for both of us.
While applying for PCC from relevant country, I was needed to dispatch the CIC letter asking for PCCs. To get this done, I had to go thru finger print exercise via local CID, because in case of USA, FBI and state police issues PCC individually.
Hope that helps.
What ThinkingOne said is correct, as per rule you need PCC if you are our from your country for more then 6months
"Do not request a police certificate from Hong Kong, the United States or Canada until you are instructed to do so by a visa office."
If you have stayed in any of these countries then the rul applies to you for PCC, as for US i know you need a FBI fingerprinting card and it does serves the purpose.
If you are in India or from Nepal you are not included in this rule and You need to get PCC done..

Thanks ThinkingOne and ashish30 for your comments.
Let me make sure I understood what I need to do. I need a FBI fingerprinting card which will serve both FBI thing and PCC for the US and I need to get a PCC from Nepal. The US and Nepal are the only two countries I have lived all of my life.
One more thing, I can send my application without including PCC and FBI thing (from Nepal and the US respectively) and the immigration office will ask me to submit them later and I will do that when they ask me to do so. Is that right?
Thanks again.

We live in India. HAve posted our Passports also to CIC, New delhi.
Since my husband was in US for 2-3 years I have been asked to submit police clearance certificate and FBI certificate. But we live in India. What shall we do?
Shall we visit US embassy here in India. Or shall we contact and ask my brother-in-law staying in US to apply for us?
Please suggest the best possible way
