You can settle anywhere in Mississauga. All isuues raised by you are available in mississauga. Depending upon your budget, you can try near to square one/Malton.

Hi Badshah,

Congratulations on your immigration to Canada. Spring/Summer is the right time to move as your family would have settled in before the next winter sets in.

In terms of settleing down, there are indians almost in every city here. Most people decide on the place of living based on their career prospects.

Mississauga is very big and ideal loacation, in terms of career and facilities. Malton area mentioned by Desi_thriller is older area of Mississauga that is very near to the airport and has tons on indians living there...predominantly from Punjab. There are newer developments in Mississauga which have a balance mix of various communities. Much will depend upon what kind of accomodation you are looking for.

If you are looking to rent an apartment, you ideal choices are Square One area and Dundas/Hurontario/Queensway in Mississauga. There are lots other areas in Mississauga as well, however these areas have a slight edge when it comes to conveniences. There plenty of indian stores everywhere, though most big grocery chains (located almost one every couple of kilometeres) do carry lots of Indian edible stuff now.

Day care options are also available everywhere and should not be a problem.

Good luck and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Look for a place essentially near a subway ,(exclude a place near ttc bus too) that shall assist you beyond your imagination to commute easily in and around GTA region, place near a subway is helping you commute without any hitch. You shall always thank your self of this decision later.
Indian grocery stores are also spread everywhere where Indian population is living .

Hi ,

Would like to know which area would be better and cheaper to rent out in the initial months once we move to Canada?.

Especially in the Ontario area. Would like to make a choice between Toronto, Mississuaga, Hamilton, London etc.

Few considerations while making that decision:

1] Close to subway and/or bus transportation.

2] Close to grocery stores/malls , including Indian stores

3] Close to community centers, help agencies etc. basically all the things needed in the first 6 months for new immigrants.

4]Better job opportunities in all those areas especially I.T jobs.

Would appreciate the response.

If amount of rent is your primary consideration, then your choices are in the following order - London, Hamilton, Mississauga, Toronto.

This is in general only.

It is always possible to find cheaper places to rent anywhere through proper shopping around and negotiation.

Quote:
1] Close to subway and/or bus transportation.
Toronto has the best transit system among all the cities you listed.
Mississauga probably comes next.

Hamilton and London have limited transport, mainly because they are smaller cities when compared to Toronto and Mississauga.

Quote:
2] Close to grocery stores/malls , including Indian stores
There are a lot of Indian grocery stores in all the cities you listed.
London will have lesser in number because it is a lot smaller, but you should still be able to find most of the common stuff there.

3] Close to community centers, help agencies etc. basically all the things needed in the first 6 months for new immigrants.
All cities have the required facilities, such as HRDC offices, OHIP offices, MTO office, etc.

Quote:
4]Better job opportunities in all those areas especially I.T jobs.
In terms of number of opportunities, Toronto obviously has the most.

However, I would suggest make one of these cities as your "home base" and then search for jobs in all others.
For example, you can make Mississauga as a base and look for jobs in Toronto, London and Hamilton.

Hope this helps.
