Hi,

I've got some visitors coming next week from Dubai and I like to take them around the usual Niagara, CN Tower, Downtown area, malls and food places.

Besides, I like to take them to places that are unique including natural places such as woods and conservation areas (if allowed).

Do you know of any place close to GTA where there are parks with lots of trees and greens (not the crowded ones around Lakeshore), Please let me know.

Had any body been to Milton (Halton) conservation area ? How is the place and how was your experience ?

Thanks in advance.

Try Rattlesnake point near Milton. Beautiful hiking trails and excellent scenery off the cliffs.

Check out the web site of Ontario Parks -> http://www.ontarioparks.com/

I've been to Darlington National Park, it's by the beach, in a quiet area, with a lot of natural surroundings, close to Oshawa.

Also been to Sibbald Point, again by the beach, N on Markham Road.

Keep in mind there is a $10 entry fee for these parks, but worth the $$

PS: Just checked the website, the fees have gone up by a buck

The best one I've been to close by is Kelso Glen. Its off the 401, close to Milton. The park has small lake with a sandy beach. They also rent out Kayaks, canoes and paddleboats. Other than that, there's some hiking you can do to get to some spectacular scenic points.

I think its 10 bucks per car (and it costs about 14-18 bucks to rent a boat), but totally worth it! I was there over the long weekend and it was awesome.

I was there today and I totally agree with BL.
Just a word of caution : The ladies in the beach/ lake were very skimply dressed and left very little to imagination. I would not recommend this area for people who can find this embarassing.
Also I had a very bad experience in the changing room after the swim. Me and a few of my male friends were changing our wet dresses in the changing room (just a open space) by using the lungi / towel when a gora just walked in with his wet dress, pulled of everything from his body and dressed in dry cloths (without the help of a towel). We were totally embarrased.
Just my experience.
