Hi,
I am desparately looking for an answer to my queries as our decision to relocate to Canda depends on them.
My spouse got admitted to one of the top Canada B-schools and so i am eligible to get open work permit. I am working in IT field having 5+years of exp. with 2 masters degree. I want to know:
1. Is open work perit is that widely recognized. I mean do emploers still prefer PR's over open work permit holders?
2. Does open work permit means that i can change job anytime. I mean it is not tied to the meployer like H1B for US?
3. We have applied for PR one year ago. Will relocating to Canda hasten the PR approval process?
4. Lastly, how is the IT job market in Tornto area?
Sorry for asking so many questions but i found this forum really helpful.
Hope to get replies asap.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I am not in IT field but i hope i can answer few of your questions.
1- Yes. Open work permit is widely recognised. However, some Govt. bodies will still prefer to hire PR/Canadian citizens if they are avilable.
But no need to wory as you will be working in private sector for which you are legaly entitled to work in Canada.
2. No it is not like H1b or work permit in some ME countries where you can work for sponsor only.
3. IMO, relocating to Canada is not going to hasten your PR process. Nor it will delay it.
4.For IT job, I can't comment but it is going to be tough getting a job in your field.

Driller the thriller
in most cases all they ask for is sin no and not wether u r a pr or citizen(as in most countries) and IT anyways has a LMO exempt(check cic work permit section). So u can work and continue doing that even after your open work permit as per current regulations.

Sucess is not an accident it is a result of hardwork with intelligence.
