Hi,
I will be getting my work permit for my fellowship in a canadian hospital (for 1-2years).
Can I apply for my spouse open work permit which will also allow her to work here?
She does not have a job here, but will she get an open work permit as i have a job in canada ?

If you are at any of the major cities in India or a location where you can meet with these people in person after accessing their website, you will find it beneficial to your move to Canada. So please contact them and get a direction in which to proceed and then follow the same. It is at: ciip.accc.ca
I do understand that your spouse does not have a job here in Canada and you also want to apply for a work permit for her also, prior to arrival here. Yes you can surely apply for it. Try and do all of these from India prior to arrival here and try and find a suitable job in the same Hospital, in any capacity if you can. That will help you both immensely, for a start here.

One of my friends came on a work permit..
His wife was allowed to work , not sure if she applied for a work permit or not.. but in canada spouses can work if one partner has a work permit and from what i have heard it is a open work permit(Work for any employer)..

I have come on work permit and my wife came on open work permit. She had never worked earlier but she got job here pretty easily. So apply for open work permit for your wife.
