I am try answer your question. To my knowledge, it is not too hard to get into accounting. I started working as a cost accountant with a salary of 32K 4 years back, now, I am getting around 70K (got an offer for a job with around 75K). I came here with my CIMA qualification and I did my CMA after coming here.
Dont go by the CIMA-CMA agreement. You need to have 3 years of canadian accounting experience to CMA's satisfaction as well as complete few university courses before you can qualify for a CMA designation, Check CMA ontario's website.
May be the age factor played in my case. I came to canada when I was 29.
Since the question is treasury specific, checkout http://www.tmac.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK (Treasury Management Association of Canada). they have an opportunities section.
Good luck

Hi Dilip,
You infact might have good chances of getting a job very soon - I see a new trend emerging here - they want more and more people having combined knowledge of Accounts and ERP systems - specially implementations.
Get yourself registered with spedialised accounting agencies like Accountemps, Robert Half, PTC, Controllers on Call. I am sure you might find a break soon.

Get a cell phone if you dont have one..easier for other to get in touch with you
Think of doing a CGA or CMA

Hi Chandresh
Thanks very much for your feedback. As you said i need to register with these agencies, do you think i should personally visit these agencies and talk to the guys or is is ok registering online and calling them and speaking to them.
Secondly, should i manipulate my CV and show it as Accountant working on ERP or i should keep my CV same as ERP consultant and discuss with these agencies saying that i need to change a line and trying to get into Accounts Job?
Hi Madrasi
I have already registered my CV in moster and workopolis. In workopolis i have also registered a second CV with different id, showing my self as Accounts guy and not the IT guy.
However i noticed it has been viewed by very less people. Only 2 in 10 days. Could you advise what type key skills should i mention in key skill fields. I have given as Accounts Analysts, and Reconciliation. Do i need to change that? What i should project in key skills and in CV to make it more attractive?
I can send you my CV for your feedback and accordingly i will change the same. Can i get your email id. My id is You may mail it to me and i will get back to you.
Thanks very much to both Chandresh and Madrasi. I look forward for a long and continuous support from you and also all other forum members.
Thanks
Dilip Sharma
yes i checked with CMA and they mention the requirements stated above...
its just that one has to go through all this as accounting is a regulated field...i an sticking to non regulated fields
