Mistake on Parking ticket

I got a parking ticket the other day.

When I called up the automated payment system to pay up (since fighting it would cost me more even if I won), the license plate recited back to me on the phone by the system was incorrect. One of the characters was recorded wrong either by the officer or whoever entered the ticket in the system.

So my question is, does this invalidate the ticket? If yes, what do I have to do?

Does the ticket have others details like Drivers license number, address etc...???

dude, parking ticket unlike speeding ticket is left under wiper and it will have only license plate number recorded. It is like mistaken identity and some unfortunate person will suffer if that plate number have been issued before ticket issued date. IMO, BL should report of the mistake as PT donot affect insurance or driving history.

Strange I got a parking ticket too......Anyways on grounds of technicality your ticket should be invalidated. You should be able to go scottfree.

IMHO, Charlie is absolutely right....if the incorrect lic plate # was issued to someone befoer PT date, that person is unaware of the tkt and the case automatically go to collections and that person's credit history will be affected, he/she can surely contest, but then it's a long process.

BL just get in touch with the call centre and resolve the issue, that's what I would do in your place.

Thanks for all your input guys. Reachash and Charlie, that's exactly what I did.

And I guess honesty does pay off sometimes. I actually called to pay up the ticket, however the lady on the phone told me herself the she will cancel it. She asked to me to fax my car's ownership document with the ticket number. And then actually called me back to tell me that she had received it and had canceled the ticket!

Now that's what I call customer service!
