Sir,

You don't need to put your posts in each category. Only one is enough to get attention.

Gaurav it does have labs. What is ur area of specialization ? If you are into fuel cells then NRC (http://www.nrc.ca) would be a good place for you. Other than that, I dont think there are significant research organizations in Canada in your field of work.

http://www.mcgill.ca/mecheng/

Mcgill(Montreal) has quite a few profs of Indian decent educated in the US. They also have research facilities.

Same goes for Concordia (though Mcgill pays better, according to friends who work at both places)

Hope this helps.

I am joing Concordia as an Asst. Prof. and assuming duty on the 16th of August.

I have been following this forum on and off for a while since i had an offer from Concordia. Now that everything is finalised, i got my work permit stamped last week and i cleared all official stuff here in singapore, i had time to register into this forum (sorry for being so selfish).

Concordia pays for my accomodation for the first 7 days since i land on the 11th of August.

Then i am on my own. i need some info. reg. accomodation.

As I do not have a first hand knowledge of the public transport system and weather conditions (I am from Asia), I would like to know if you can give me some key information on the types of accommodation and some of the suburbs that have easy access to Concordia.

We are a family of 2 and I would also like to know the cost of rentals, if it is not too demanding to ask.

Thank you very much for your patience

Is micro mechanics any closer to nano technology and nano machines? If it is, you may have good chances to land up in research oriented position in Canada. I think (not sure?) there are couple of companies in Vancouver area in this field.

You most likely have three options:

1. If you want to be in academic, do Post-doc at on of the Univ. in Canada - Your advisor may know academic people with similar research interest in Canada or use Internet to look up Canadian Univ. faculty research interest and contact them directly.

2. If you want to work in govt. research or govt. supported basic research in private sector, look up govt. research orgs like national research council (NRC) or major govt. funded research inititatives. Again use Internet, Canadian Govt. has lot of info online.

3. If you want to work in private sector, contact people at Portfolio companies of Canadian Venture Capital (VC) Firms. VCs have been quite active funding startups in nano area. Start from http://www.CVCA.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK website for list of Candian VCs.

Off topic suggestion, change your webpage colors, it is hard to read white text on black background on screen.
