Hi folks,
I have stuck a deal for a private used car as follows:
1998 Toyota corolla
225 k milage
battery very new (with 3 yrs warranty)
a/c,am/fm, cassette player
not fully loaded
no accident or any unuasual reports(as per report from car fax)
$ 4800
What's your opinion guys for this deal?
Should i go or not go for this?

The odometer reading seems to be very high. Be prepared for frequent visits to the repair shop.

$4800 for a 225K mileage car seems too pricey. Sounds to me more like a 3K car.

1. Normal mileage ( mix of city + highway) will be around 20 K per year
2. In this case, this car already clocked a 10 yr mileage
3. Value as per model year looks reasonable around $4000
4. But mileage is a factor you cannot "afford" to miss ( now is the time for regular trips to mechanic )
5.If your budget is around $5000 , you will get a lot of good cars in private sales. Be on a constant lookout

PK - my advise - if you have already finalised a deal, do not get opinions since most probably they will dampen your spirits (as seems from a few posts).
If you have not finanlised the deal as yet - look at my classified which I have placed today for my Camry 1997. You have known me personally - and I assure you it's a good car - as I have written in the ad - DOES NOT look new, BUT runs like one! Get in touch with me if you want!
