I am looking to buy a new Corrolla or a Civic - but really do not know how to deal with these dealers. I know for sure that no one does quote his lowest, but at the same time I do not expect to get the lowest or the best deal since I do not want to do a lot of searching around.
I seek advise on how to approach a new car dealer and secondly and most importantly, if anyone has bought a new Corrolla or Civic, can you give me a price idea? I am looking for a fully auto car.

you can check this link - http://carcostcanada.com/1/en/default.asp (you may need to pay to register, but it will be worth it). Civic - insurance will be a bit high, because it is the most stolen car. Also do not give your credit card to the dealer until you are satisfied and confirm the deal. You can backout at anytime, take a print out of the car price before you visit the dealer. You do not need to buy the car from the first dealer you visit, remember you get good deals on used cars these days, my friend recently bought a used 06 corolla LE model,25K mileage for 12K including taxes
I have heard from my chinese collegue that when he bought his new Dodge Caravan couple of years ago few familes who were in the same boat of thinking of buying a new car but didnt have knowledge or time to shop around they pool together from their community website arrived at a common model and negotiated good discount price with the dealer. He told me the Dealer sales person was very much willing to negotiate on price since he was selling 5 car in just 1 day.
I was thinking about throwing up this suggestion by starting a new thread. I hope i haven't hijacked the thread.
check out APA. you can buy a car from their dealers at a no haggle, fair price basis.
Also recommend you check viability of buying a Toyota in America and driving it across. The paperwork is negligible, but the quality of the fitout as well as price savings are huge.

Hi Chandresh,

Hi Chandresh,
I have the APA quote for 2009 Corolla, I can mail it to you.
What I did was, took a APA quote, and then instead of going to their referred dealer, went to another one and made them lower the already discounted price that was quoted by APA. Erin Mills Toyota was initially reluctunt to go ahead with the deal, but seeing that I am going to walk out to another dealer, ultimalety honoured the deal..........

Thanks for all the responses - I will go into the links and find out more details - specially I do not know what APA is.
However, any feedback on actual price paid for a new or two year old car?
