If a parent comes here on a visitor visa, the maximum period of stay can be 6 months i guess.

NOW what I want to know is :

If my mother comes here from India on a visitor visa, stays here in Canada for 6 months, at the end of 6 months, from here she is visiting USA, to my brother's home there, staying in USA for less than a week, applying for visitor visa to canada again back from USA. She needs to come back to Canada again for 6 months for some important reasons.
In this scenario, will she be given a visitor visa back to Canada from USA? What are the probabilities? What information does she need to have? Is this applicable?
Masood, advice immediately.
Advice and Tips from others will be appreciated too

Snowfall:

I believe...At Canada Customs you will probably be asked why she needs to return to canada when she just left (they will have that information from her passport ) and its difficult to say. It depends on the Immigration officer you deal with. You may have to explain the reasons you want her to stay for an additional 6 months. She may also be given *less* than 6 months.. and she will definately be asked to produce proof that she is returning to India ie/ Return ticket and/or proof of ties to India.

Hope that helps.

Even if you have a Multi-Entry Visa - which can be given for upto 10 years, Customs still date stamps you for 6 months Max (Visitor Visa).. at a time..

Also, as a visitor your Mother can take any english/short course as long as its less than 6 months long. (Check with immigration to clarify) however that is my understanding

Thanks all for your replies.

I have been in canada just for 3 months now. My wife is in her family way -The Important Reason.

NOW MY 3 QUESTIONS ARE:

1.My mother is visiting USA, my brother's palce there on a visitor visa, stays there just for a week, applying for a Visitor visa to Canada from USA, Will she be allowed to come and stay here in Canada for 6 months when applying from USA?
2. At the end of 6 months, can she go back to USA on a visitor visa from Canada?
3. If she can go back to USA, staying there for less than a week, applying for visitor visa to canada again back from USA, She needs to come back to Canada again for 6 months for assisting my wife who is about to deliver at that time - the important reason. In this scenario, will she be given a visitor visa back to Canada from USA?

What are the probabilities of her getting visitor visas in the above 3 instances, 1 in US embassy-Canada & 2 in Canadian High Commission- USA? What are the requirements? What information does she need to have?

Each country has a Immigration website with complete information for requirements for visitors. If your mother obtains a multi-entry visa into each country..it could be easier for her. Even with the Multi entry from the US and Canada consulates, she will still be assessed at the Border when she comesto the other side. She will also have to demonstrate that she plans to return to India (ie with return ticket and other proof of residency in India) It depends on the officer u talk with.

Secondly on a lighter note :) Congrats on your wife being pregnant. It took me 10 minutes before I realized what \"being in a family way\" means. That is a very old fashioned term. No offense :)

Hi Snowfall,

I suggest that you ask your mother to get a visitor visa of Canada from India because if she is planning to apply for the visa from US then the chance of rejection is high.

If she already has a visitor visa of US she should not have any problem in getting a Canadian visitor visa from India.
