That's an interesting question Garvo Gujarati. Of course USA is a good place to settle down, but I would prefer Canada more. I don't know why, but there's just something different about Canada that isn't there about USA for me. I guess part of the reason why I would prefer Canada is because I've lived in Toronto for 11 years.

on what basis do you say that USA is a better place to settle down? You seem very sure about it..

Generally speaking, if you're extremely ambitious and career-driven, the heights you can reach in the U.S. are significantly higher than the ones you can in Canada (one of the reasons all our actors move down there eventually). The size of the U.S. economy dwarfs that of the Canadian and the stakes are much higher.

Interesting you say this.. I think I have seem many more "immgrants" integrated into canadian society and culture than in the US. Politics is a classic example.. there are many more ethnic politicians in canada than in the US. Same applies to top level business executives..

Do US has the same peace-of-mind life style as we have in canada.

I do agree with the opinion that there are less ethinic pple in politics and other high level positions in US as compared with Canada. I did always wondered why...

Immigrants have been flooding to US even before I was born and still very few ethinic pple in high ranking places, and very few indian-desi pple acting in TV serials and all

While in UK you can really the Desi pple mixing with the british and they can be seen in all modes , in TV, movies, politicians...

I think similar things will happen in Canada , soon. Thats what called
"equal opportunity"

One of the poll on this site asks for user preference on settling down in US.

The question is "If give a chance would you prefer to settle in US?"
Majority of the people said "Of course".

At the same time there are many others saying "Not at all!".

Let us discuss here - marit and de-marits of settling in US as compare to Canada.

Don't go to either without visiting first and don't immigrate unless you already have a job lined up.

I would like to point out for prospective immigrants that health care in Alberta is not free.

You need to pay a premium of $88 per month for a family of 4. There is no provincial sales tax in Alberta which is more than compensated by the health care premium.

I guess in Canada or US, those who succeed are those who are either highly educated & get into engineering jobs/software development jobs or those people who start their own business.

Rgds.

Rajan.
