I will be coming to Toronto permanently on 30th January. I want to bring my "goods to follow" by air. Does any one having any experiance about this. Like, where to contact, any agent needed, charges?

Thanks in advance.

its best to use agents. coz you dont know the procedures. or best call an airline and ask them what has to be done. its very easy. they will give you the rate per KG how it needs to be packed. I WOULD SUGGEST canadian airlines coz they had instructions to be extra helpful to immigrants. they might even have a special rate.
best of luck and welcome to canada.

be carefull when you pack your clothes in plastic - they might get mouldy on the way. i would suggest those vacume bags they have now a days. specilly save you space.

Thanks Janmeja for your reply. Actually I have already contacted one agent in Malaysia. I wanted to know where and how to contact in Toronto airport. Do I need an agent in Toronto also or just I go with my documents and bring my things?

they are very helpful in canada. you may not need any one here. we came from the US and our good followed by truck to halifax. the truck driver called and asked me to meet him at the custom office in downtown. i took all my papers that the immigration officer had signed on when we came at the airport.make sure you show your list at the immigration counter at the airport . they sign and stamp it. i took that the custom officer checked it and asked afew questions about the articles and then simply stamped all done in 5 minutes flat. they asked if i had any contraband, cigarrets, liquor etc. when the articles reach canada. the airline will call you and you will need to go with all your landing papers etc

have you thought about using sea cargo. it may be cheaper but will take 5 to 6 weeks to get here.
best of luck
