LONDON: A large number of overseas doctors, mostly from India, who had flocked to Britain in response to the UK National Health Services' global appeal for more staff, are facing unemployment, poverty and discrimination, a report said Monday.
More than 6000 doctors who passed the professional and linguistic assessment board (PLAB) test face months of hardship and many may never obtain jobs and return home penniless, UK daily 'The Independent ' reported.
Many of the doctors who are living on the fringe flock the Sri Mahalakshmi Hindu temple in east London, every evening to get free food, the report added.

Take it with pinch of salt.
I have my family members in UK in medical field and they never had it so good.. Only place it's better for Indian docs than UK is USA..
Money, Fame, respect all is there.. now lot of fresh MBBS grads have gone there without any clinical experience and after passing PLAB a lot of them can hardly piece togather 2 sentences of english, they smell of curry, don't dress or behave professionally.. even after that the actual percentage would be much lower than what's in this report.. but then TOI is pinko-commie rag.. who believes their BS anyways..
