Only thing i can add is that in savings account you hardly get anything ..if you are looking for returns (3-4%)look at Non redeemable/Redeemable GIC.With secure principal a chance to get higher returns is with prime linked Gic or canadian/Global Market linked GIC.Mutual funds investing needs more investment knowledge and risk taking ..so you can start with GIC and then move to other options of investment (as listed out by investpro) within RRSP .
Hi Regar,
Savings accounts at certain banks are currently giving 4% (President's choice- I have money there) and I believe so is ING- maybe higher there as well 4.5%

Also I am unsure if you on another thread stated that TD was giving a equity linked GIC that could possibly give upto 60%.
I went to TD and they said that at the end of the period I could end up with zero growth as well but the maximum at the end of 5 years was 60% or an a simple growth graph 10% per annum.
Is that correct? The banking officer didn't seem to know his elbow from his knee.
I still have to go to RBC to check their story out.
Hi,
Well majoriy of the banks are not giving that sort of interest or rather interest is negligible i am sure you will agre to that.
I have never said 60% returns in any thread .
I am a firm beliver that if the returns are high risk is higher ..and thats what i try to put across.
