What desi raja means is this :
A small number of people pool in $2000 or so , which will be held by a competant person who has time and who will invest in stocks and get 100 to 2000% returns. Investing in mutual funds hardly get 3 to 7%.
I opted out of this concept since i donot trust doing anything with desi's . if you get them profit of 1000 % they will say why not 2000% . if you get them into loss, they will throw brick bats at you.
Anyone interested in doing a pool like this ?

Not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate please?
My investment strategy is for long term (more than 10 to 20 years). Also, I tolerate a risk level of 6 to 7 on a scale of 0 to 10 (10 being riskiest). Based on those two, I have focused my strategy on mutual funds and have diversified them as much as possible.
I hold balanced portfolios, domestic equity investments and international equity investments - all through Canadian and US based mutual funds.
I do not invest in individual stocks as I neither have time to monitor every little thing nor risk tolerance. I have no wish to be instant millionaire, but rather prefer to have a steady growth with reasonable volatility. So far, my strategy has worked.
Anyway, if you are interested more about the kind of investments that I normally pursue, feel free to comment and discuss.

I have only 2 cents to contribute, not a cent more, not a cent less ;-)
My 2 cents :
I am into share trading but it is based on my intutions only.
I would like to know what kind of MF's are good in Canada and India.
See : http://www.allpennystocks.com" rel="nofollow">LINK for investment ideas. This has a Canadian aspect and a USA aspect.
AFAIK, The resource boom has a lot of potential still but they are looking for a correction now (both Canada and India) in which they expect the sensex/TSX to lose 10 % soon. Anyway, after the correction , the stock prices are expected to rise.
If you are not comfortable of making your ideas public, email me at :

Thanks

TK,
I do not invest in penny stock since I do not have the knowledge to conduct technical analysis. I believe in value investing and am a fan of the Buffet style of investing. (though I have never come even close to matching the great man's returns).
But thanks for the link anyway.
I invest in following funds in Canada:
1) RBC Dividend Fund -
2) BMO Dividend Fund -
3)Trimark Canadian Resources -
4)TD Canadian Bond - 2yr return
5) GGOF Monthly high income fund
IN India I have the following funds:
1)Franklin India Prima -
2)Reliance Vision
3)Tata MIP Plus Fund
4)Pru ICICI Power
Dislaimer: Please research these funds thoroughly before investing. I will not be responsible for any losses should you choose to invest in these funds based on this post. I am not recommending any of these funds nor am I affiliated to any of the fund companies in any way.
